Lost and Found

Lost and Found is a story about me. Given up for Adoption at 10 days old, being adopted by a loving family a few weeks later. These are my memoirs of growing up knowing since my first memories that I was adopted, and that although being generally very happy in a very loving, caring and safe environment, always feeling that something was missing. It discusses in detail the psychological issues that a person who has been adopted has to deal with. (Some of these feelings I am discussing for the first time with anyone) The theme that runs throughout the story is my constant search for that "missing something". My teenage years ending with the birth of a son when I was aged 19, My early twenties moving from one job to another never seeming to find happiness and the death of my adopted mother from a brain tumor when she was 52 and I was just 24 years old and my near miss with alcoholism. Finally my thirties entering them in the depths of depression, the finding of my soul mate, the taking on of my autistic step son and the birth of my 3rd son and the fact that none of these wonderful things filled the hole that was inside of me. The story ends with the five year search for my birth family and everything that happened when I eventually found them.

The story is therapy for myself with you the reader as my therapist. I also hope that it will give hope and encouragement to any adopted people who are going through the same turmoil that I have been through, or who are thinking about searching for their birth family. Ultimately I hope that it provides for you the reader an emotional roller coaster of a read; full of tears, laughter, anger, pity and joy.

Keep checking my blog for news of when Lost and Found will be released.
